Professor Lili Qiu Wins NSF Career Award Lili Qiu, WNCG and Department of Computer Science faculty member, was awarded the National Science Foundation's prestigious Faculty Career Development Award in January 2006. The award will help fund Professor Qiu's current research and is given to those teacher-scholars who most effectively integrate research and education in the context of the mission of their organization. Professor Qiu says, "I am excited about wireless network management research, and look forward to carrying out the research supported by the CAREER Award." Qiu's research interests span several areas of computer networks, including wireless network management, Internet measurement, overlay networks, and content distribution. Qiu's CAREER award will allow her to develop algorithms, techniques, and tool kits to automate wireless network performance management and fault management. These two functionalities are critical for providing high-quality and reliable wireless communications. To achieve this goal, Lili is developing a systematic framework, called M3, that measures, models, and manages wireless networks. To demonstrate the practical value of her approach, she plans to apply them to managing wireless networks at home, on campus, in enterprises, and at medical clinics. Professor Lili Qiu joins 5 other WNCG faculty members who are also among the list of CAREER Award recipients. | ||
