WNCG Faculty visit Dell and Ericsson

Several faculty from WNCG recently visited the US headquarters of two of its affiliate members: Dell (Round Rock, TX) and Ericsson (Plano, TX). These visits allow our faculty and affiliates an opportunity to compare and align research interests wherever possible as well discuss innovative ways to bring ideas—and applications—to fruition in the marketplace.

At Dell, Profs. Andrews, Bard, Heath, Nettles, Rappaport, and Vishwanath brainstormed with the technical executives on a variety of technical approaches to further differentiating the wireless networking offerings of Dell's notebook and desktop computers. At Ericsson, Andrews, Heath and Rappaport were treated to an impressive demonstration called "Experience Ericsson" that highlighted Ericsson's vision for the next 5-10 years that included next generation prototypes streaming high definition video over standards such as the emerging LTE, as well as futuristic interactive gaming and television applications.
