Zukang Shen Interns at Motorola Zukang Shen, a PhDEE student under the direction of Profs. Jeffrey G. Andrews and Brian L. Evans in WNCG, is interning at Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector in Austin, TX, for the Spring 2004 semester. He is working under the direction of Ed Martinez, who leads the Baseband Software Team in the Network and Computing Systems Division. The division is part of the Networking and Computing Systems Group. One of the projects Zukang is working on involves the development of China's time division SCDMA cellular system. In this context, he is implementing symbol rate processing modules according to the third-generation partnership project technical specification (TS 25.222 v6.0.0) on a Motorola MSC8101 digital signal processor (DSP). The MSC8101 includes the SC140 DSP core (with four multiply-accumulate units) and a filtering coprocessor, and is targeted for networking and communication systems. Zukang Shen received his BSEE degree from Tsinghua University in 2001 and MSEE degree from UT Austin in 2003, where he is currently a PhD candidate in the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research interests include multicarrier communication systems, resource allocation in multiuser environments, digital signal processing, and information theory. Zukang received UT Austin Texas Telecommunications Engineering Consortium fellowships for 2001-2002 and 2003-2004. |
