WNCG Faculty Lead Major Industry Conferences and Workshops

Several WNCG faculty have been playing key leadership roles and have been actively planning upcoming conferences and workshops across the country.

Prof. Ted Rappaport is serving as the Technical Program Chair for the 2003 IEEE Global Communications Conference (Globecom). Globecom 2004 will be held in Dallas, Texas November 29 - December 3, 2004, and is one of the largest research conferences in the world. Numerous WNCG faculty are involved as technical program committee members. Globecom 2004 provides an excellent opportunity for Texas companies to meet the worldwide research community. The conference offers patron and sponsorship opportunities, as well as a phenomenal design/development program track. The deadline for paper submissions is March 1, 2004. For more information, please see the Globecom 2004 website at http://www.globecom2004.org.

Prof. Brian Evans is currently involved as technical program co-chair for two separate workshops: the IEEE Workshops on Digital Signal Processing and Signal Processing Education, and the IEEE Workshop on Signal Processing Systems.

The IEEE Workshops on Digital Signal Processing and Signal Processing Education will be held August 1 - 4 in beautiful Taos, New Mexico. The workshop is sponsored by two of WNCG's Industrial Affiliate partners, National Instruments and Texas Instruments. The goals of the workshops are to unite top researchers from around the world to discuss novel signal processing theories and methods, and to bring together world-class educators and thinkers to discuss all aspects of signal processing education. The deadline for submissions to the technical program is March 15, 2004. More information about the workshops is available online at http://www.dsp2004.nmsu.edu.

Prof. Evans is also co-chairing the IEEE Workshop on Signal Processing Systems (SIPS). His fellow co-chair is S. Sriram of Texas Instruments. The workshop is October 13 - 15 in Austin, Texas. The technical program participants come from many of WNCG's affiliate members, including Motorola, National Instruments, and Texas Instruments. This year's theme is "Systems-on-a-Chip for Wireless Networking." The deadline for submissions to this workshop is April 30, 2004. Details of the workshop are located on the SIPS '04 website at https://www.securecms.com/SiPS2004/.
