Heath, Ling Present at Motorola Antenna Workshop On June 17, 2003 WNCG faculty Prof. Hao Ling and Prof. Robert Heath gave invited lectures online at the Motorola Antenna Workshop. Prof. Ling's lecture was entitled "Antenna Miniaturization via Genetic Algorithms" and described his group's work on designing electrically small antennas using genetic algorithms for non-line-of-sight HF communication and wireless LAN cards. Prof. Heath's lecture was entitled "MIMO Wireless Systems: Overview and Challenges in Antenna Design" and described some key antenna design challenges for MIMO systems including the need to understand the channel, need to understand the effect of the antenna array on the total channel, and the search for a good performance metric. |
