IEEE Wireless Hive Network Symposium 2007

Cooperative sensors, tags and devices for intelligent measurement and control

Sponsored by the IEEE Central Texas Section Signal Processing/Communications Chapter August 8th, 2007 at the Hilton Austin, Collocated with NIWeek 2007

Wireless Hive Networks (WHN) are local networks where wireless devices, in potential volumes dwarfing memory chips, are associated with items on warehouse shelves, biological samples, border area motion detectors, etc. ZigBee is an example of a hive protocols. This conference brings together researchers, engineers, and practitioners to address WHN protocols, power generation, semiconductor processes, and other WHN efficient deployment issues.

Professor William Kaiser of UCLA will deliver the keynote describing the impact of wireless sensor networks in telehealth.  A panel discussion on managing energy demand with wireless sensor networks will include Brent Hodges of the ZigBee Alliance, Mark Strama of the Texas House of Representatives, Andres Carvallo from Austin Energy and Joel Serface from the Clean Energy Incubator. Paper presentations from both industry and academia will complete the program, including presenters from Freescale Semiconductor, Rice University, and the University of Texas at San Antonio.  The complete program can be found at http://www.cts-comsoc-sp.org/whns/.
