De Veciana Awarded Faculty Achievement Award Dr. Gustavo de Veciana, professor of electrical and computer engineering and a WNCG faculty member, was one of four University of Texas at Austin faculty members named recipients of the El Paso Corporate Foundation Faculty Achievement Award. The other awardees were Dr. Michael Engelhardt of the department of Civil Engineering, Dr. Thomas Shively of the Department of Management Science and Information Systems, and Dr. Christopher Bell of the department of Geological Sciences. Professor de Veciana was recognized specifically for the information technology field of study. Dr. Sheldon Ekland-Olson, executive vice president and provost at the university, said the Board of the El Paso Corporate Foundation provides awards of $3,000 each to teaching faculty members who have demonstrated significant and meritorious achievement in teaching. The foundation recognizes dedicated educators with exceptional devotion to the quality of instruction, high academic standards and a remarkable dedication to students. |
