Professor Heath Speaks at Texas Alliance On February 5, 2003, WNCG professor Dr. Robert W. Heath, Jr. gave an invited lecture entitled "Advances in Wireless Technology: Location Based Secure Encryption & Multi-Antenna Wireless Communication," to the Texas Alliance for Technology Commercialization (TATC): Growth by Alliance Forum (http://www.texalliance.org), in Austin, Texas. The intent of the TATC encompasses a broad effort to support technology commercialization in the State of Texas and it hopes to serve as a focal point of technology innovation, creativity, and leadership for all Texas universities. The goals of the Alliance are to improve the efficiency and speed of technology transfer from Texas universities and to better assure the effectiveness of the technology commercialization process from our universities. Prof. Heath spoke in part about cutting-edge ideas on location-based security co-developed with Prof. Bill Bard and Prof. Gustavo de Veciana. He also summarized the opportunity offered by multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication technology, focusing on its ability to increase capacity, reduce the effects of fading, and increase range in wireless systems. |
