Jaeweon Kim interns at Bandspeed Jaeweon Kim, a current PhD student working with Prof. Jeff Andrews, is interning at Bandspeed, Inc. for the summer of 2004. Bandspeed is a startup company specializing in wireless LAN technologies - antennas, access points and chip sets for IEEE 802.11 a, b and g systems. Jaeweon is working on the inter channel interference problem in OFDM system and equivalency tests between developed algorithms and hardware design. To investigate the inter channel interference due to the non-ideal hardware characteristics, measurements of the input-output signals of the specific components are taken and verified against the appropriate proprietary model. Bandspeed is developing chip sets that can support all three WLAN 802.11 specifications. Jaeweon's work is a part of this project, and verifying the equivalence of MATLABTM simulations and verilog designs is another important task of his. He will work under direction of Pat Kelly, vice president of Bandspeed. Jaeweon Kim received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 1994 and 1996, respectively. He worked as a research engineer at the central R&D Center of SK Telecom, Inc. from 1996 to 2002, and as a summer intern at Bandspeed Inc. in 2003. His research interests are on wireless communication algorithm development, analysis, and simulation, especially for CDMA and wireless sensor networks. |
