WNCG Announces Winner of 2007 Student Leadership Award

Dr. Ian Wong, spring graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and Electrical & Computer Engineering Department was announced as the 2007 Winner of WNCG’s Student Leadership Award. The award, now in its second year, was created to recognize an outstanding student leader whose actions promote an environment of cooperation and greater interaction with industry, community and their peers.

"Dr. Wong was part of the first batch of newly enrolling students to join WNCG in Fall 2002, and was an integral part of WNCG until his graduation in May 2007,” said Prof. Brian Evans, Ian’s advisor. “He is a serious student and dedicated researcher. He competes with himself and not with others. He leads in an unselfish way, primarily by example. He is a lot of fun to be around and to work with."

After graduation, Ian Wong began work with Freescale Semiconductor, a WNCG Industrial Affiliate he interned with in the summers of 2005 and 2006.
