Andrews and Ghosh host WiMAX Panel

Jeff Andrews and long-time WNCG collaborator Dr. Arunabha Ghosh of AT&T Labs organized a panel on WiMAX at the IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, April 2nd in Las Vegas (co-located with CTIA). The panel was entitled "WiMAX: What the Future Holds" and had a distinguished set of technical and business experts on WiMAX, including Dr. Reinaldo Valenzuela, Director of Wireless Research, Bell Labs; Berge Ayvazian, Co-Chairman, WiMAX World Asia and Chief Strategy Officer, Yankee Group; Dr. Kamran Etemad, Director of Technology Standards, Intel; and Dr. Harold Artes, Engineering Manager, CTO Group, Beceem. The panel, which was moderated by Dr. Ghosh, attracted several hundred attendees and produced lively discussions on the technical and business hurdles that WiMAX faces to compete with the entrenched cellular data standards and the emerging LTE standard.
