Professor Vishwanath receives Intel Diversity Fellowship

Prof. Sriram Vishwanath, a member of WNCG was recently awarded the Intel Diversity Fellowship in recognition for his efforts towards enhancing diversity in Electrical and Computer Engineering. This is in part due to Prof. Vishwanath’s and Prof. Bard’s (also a faculty member in WNCG) efforts in developing EURECA, an undergraduate research program at UT Austin, which aims at exposing juniors and seniors, with a focus on minorities and women, to cutting edge research issues in wireless networking and communications. This diversity fellowship was conceived and created by Intel to encourage the recruitment of promising minority candidates to graduate programs, and to increase minority representation in graduate programs throughout the Nation. In the near future, WNCG faculty and Intel aim to work together to increase minority involvement in research and to encourage more students from diverse backgrounds to consider graduate education in engineering.
