WNCG Hosts TSMC

During the first week of May, WNCG researchers hosted a visit by executives from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC). TSMC is the world’s largest manufacturer of silicon integrated circuits, and held its national partners meeting in Austin Texas. TSMC’s 2-day user conference used the theme “Partnerships for Innovation”, and involved over 250 key IC designers and managers from TSMC customers and engineers. The conference featured cutting-edge silicon manufacturing concepts and products developed by TSMC and its numerous customers and partners. As part of the partnership theme, Prof. Ted Rappaport, WNCG’s Director, presented the keynote speech about partnerships in academia.

On Tuesday, May 3, WNCG researcher Lawrence Ragan, and ECE faculty Shouli Yan, David Pan, and Jacob Abraham, hosted Dr. Jian Liu and Mr. Ron Waters for an overview of WNCG research in the area of RF IC design for millimeter wave frequencies. Several promising areas for collaboration were identified and are being pursued.
