Prof. Robert W. Heath, Jr. Visits Korea At the end of October, Prof. Robert W. Heath Jr. made a weeklong trip to Seoul, Korea, to both present research findings and to build collaborative relationships with Korean universities and industry. He visited Seoul National University and Yonsei University, where he delivered a lecture on "Limited-Feedback Communication Techniques for MIMO Systems". On the industry side of telecommunications research, Prof. Heath also gave a talk at the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) titled "Cross-Layer Optimization for MIMO-OFDM based 4G Communication Systems" and visited with Korea Telecom. Prof. Heath is currently working on research sponsored by Samsung, "Antenna Allocation and Handoff in MIMO Cellular Communication Systems." The 8th International Conference on Cellular and Intelligent Communications (CIC) was held in Seoul on October 28 - 31, 2003, and serves as a major forum for scientists, engineers and researchers in the international mobile communication community to understand pending issues and find ways to lower the technical barriers to achieve the common goal of building 4G systems. Prof. Heath presented a 4-hour tutorial on the topic of "MIMO-OFDM for Beyond Third Generation Communication" at the event. |
