WNCG Student Receives Dan Noble Fellowship Ph.D. Candidate and WNCG Student Wan Choi has been awarded the 2006 IEEE - VTS Daniel E. Noble Fellowship. The fellowship recognizes an individual most likely to impact the areas of concentration of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society including "wireless," and mobile radio. Wan Choi received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the School of Electrical Engineering, Seoul National University in 1996 and 1998, respectively. He was a Senior Member of the Technical Staff at the R&D Division of Korea Telecom (KT) Freetel from 1998 to 2003 where he researched 3G CDMA systems. In 2001, in recognition of his research on downlink capacity for multicell CDMA systems, he received the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Jack Neubauer Memorial Award, which recognizes the best system paper published in the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology. He was the recipient of William S. Livingston Graduate Fellowship, the highest fellowship award given by the Office of Graduate Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. His current research at WNCG focuses on cellular multi-antenna communication. The award will be presented at the IEEE-VTS Conference (VTC) in Montreal, Canada on September 27th. Wan Choi is the third WNCG student to win this prestigious award. |
